MOVIEBEAM: IN HOME VIDEO RENTAL DEVICE
MovieBeam used the National Datacast network to deliver movies to a set-top device in customers' homes, giving them 100 movies to choose from at any given time and ten new movies every week. With a simple click of the remote, the customers were able to view any movie in their 'library' for a small per-view charge. The cost was far less than distributing movies on hard media, allowed for easy updating, and didn't require real-time transmission for each viewing; the movies were downloaded continuously.
